One of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City stars is set to confront Utah’s most powerful institution — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints — in a new documentary series.
Bravo announced that “Surviving Mormonism with Heather Gay,” a three-part docuseries featuring Heather Gay, will premiere Tuesday, Nov. 11, immediately following that week’s episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
According to Bravo, the series follows Gay as she “uncovers the dark history” of the LDS Church, speaking with abuse survivors, ex-Mormons, and former church leaders.
Gay, who has long shared her experiences growing up in the faith — including in her memoirs Bad Mormon and Good Time Girl — opens up further about her upbringing in the church, her education at Brigham Young University, and her eventual decision to leave the faith. Bravo says the series aims to **“bring awareness and inspire change.”**
In the first episode, Gay interviews David Matheson, a former Latter-day Saint and once-prominent advocate of so-called “conversion therapy,” who publicly came out as gay in 2019.
The second episode reunites Gay with an old friend, **Ben**, whom she once distanced herself from due to his criticism of the church. Ben shares his experience of abuse — a revelation that “rocks her to her core,” according to Bravo. Gay also speaks with other alleged victims and a former LDS bishop who opens up about what he witnessed within the church.
The final episode centers on two sisters who claim they endured “indescribable” abuse from their father and were ignored by church leaders when they reported it. By the episode’s conclusion, Bravo says, **“Heather decides it’s time to take action.”**
A spokesperson for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reiterated the church’s long-standing position that it **“has no tolerance for abuse of any kind,”** emphasizing that offenders “are subject to legal prosecution and face loss of Church membership.”
The first episode airs at **9:15 p.m. Eastern and Pacific time (7:15 or 10:15 p.m. Mountain time)**, depending on TV provider. All three episodes will be available to stream on **Peacock** starting **Wednesday, Nov. 12**.
